The Council on Aging of Buncombe County offers a variety of programs and services to help people age independently and provides resources for caregivers and family members. 


Dining & Wellness

​Our dining and wellness program provides individuals with opportunities to get together with friends, new and old, have lunch, exercise, play games and more.

Elder Justice Services

Provides support, education, information and services to individuals experiencing abuse, neglect and exploitation. 

Medicare and Affordable Care Act Assistance (ACA)

Let us assist you through the process of applying for and receiving Medicare or ACA coverage. We offer Medicare classes and individual counseling sessions.  ACA Navigators can help with health insurance needs.

Caregiver Support/Respite

Caregiver support is available for individuals who are providing care for family.  Respite funding is available on a limited basis and a caregiver support group is available. 

Resource Coordination

​A Service Specialist can assess your situation and provide you with the best options to fit your needs. In-house services include Call-A-Ride, Home Bound Food Delivery and Application Assistance. We can help you with resources to stay independent at home. 

Minor Home Repair

​A Service Specialist can visit your home to assess your minor home repair needs.  Depending on the size of project our Minor Home Repair specialist make be able to assist.  

Benefits Enrollment Center

A staff member is available to help you apply for Medicaid, Food Stamps, Heating Assistance and Medicare Savings Programs.
