Thank you for choosing to partner with the Council on Aging of Buncombe to make a difference.
Council on Aging of Buncombe County is an independent 501(c)(3) organization. COAbc is not a government agency or a subsidiary of any larger organization.
As donors of COAbc, you strengthen the lives of aging adults in our community. Your gift brings meals, transportation, companionship, social services, grab bars, supplies, education, and other resources to seniors in Buncombe County.
A widowed woman desperately wanted to remain in her home. She was cogitatively sound, but she was unsteady. Our response was to install grab bars and a transfer bench. Now she can safely move around her home and bathe by herself.
An in-office visit is not always the best option. Whether it’s due to a lack of transportation, poor mobility, or the need for fresh air, our staff will meet with clients in their homes, at a facility, or even at the dog park.
A daughter was caring for her mom with dementia who required continuous care. COAbc was able to assist with a respite grant. The funds allowed her to hire someone to stay with mom while she went to the grocery store and had personal time away.
With more than 70,000 people aged 60+ in Buncombe County and over 10,000 people a day in the US turning 75, the need for community-based resources is greater than ever.
Perhaps you have received support from Council on Aging of Buncombe County – Medicare counseling, a ride to a doctor’s appointment, resource navigation, or caregiver support.
Your $100 donation allows us to provide essential services such as:
- 20 shelf-stable meals for vulnerable adults
- 10 grab bars
- 3 hours of Medicare counseling
In addition to direct service, we utilize unrestricted support to cover essentials approved by our Board of Directors for infrastructure, development, and sustainability. We continue to strategically build programming and opportunities to engage staff and volunteers at the highest possible level for maximum service delivery. Whether it’s a matching gift for a government grant, program, or personnel costs, we put your money to work transparently in the areas where it’s needed the most!
