Call-A-Ride Volunteer Drivers
Call-A-Ride is a volunteer transportation program that provides rides to seniors and the home-bound who can no longer drive themselves or use public/community transportation. Call-A-Ride volunteers use their own vehicles to transport folks primarily to their medical appointments and to other necessary appointments, the pharmacy, and an occasional trip to the grocery store. Most clients are in their 80's, quite frail and need the personalized service Call-A-Ride can provide. This program is a tremendous relief to Council on Aging clients who experience a great loss of independence and often profound isolation. A mileage reimbursement is offered to offset costs to the volunteer.
