Senior Dining

west-exersise.jpgThe Council on Aging's Senior Dining Program promotes the independence of people 60 and older by providing a safe, friendly environment where they may enjoy crafts, games, exercise, information about local happenings and services, etc. The program offers lunch, exercise, and activities; voluntary contributions are accepted, but there is no fee for the program.

Transportation is available through Mountain Mobility.

Senior Dining sites are located in the following communities:

Asheville Terrace Apartments

Site closed due to cutbacks caused by food cost increases

Avery's Creek Community Center (M-W-F)

Community Center located at 889 E. Glenn Bridge Road.
Go I-26 south,  exit at Long Shoals,  turn right onto Long Shoals,   Go to Brevard Rd,  turn left,  go to light a couple of hundred yards down Brevard Road, then take the angle left road, not the sharp left. This is E. Glenn Bridge.  Go couple hundred yards to new Fire Department on left.    Community Center is located in the rear of the Fire Dept.

Black Mountain (M-Tu-F)

The Lakeview Center is the senior center for the Town of Black Mountain, and is located at 410 Rhododendron Dr. at Lake Tomahawk.  Go US 70 east.  Just as you enter into Black Mountain city limits, you pass the Coach House restaurant on the left.   At the next light, turn left (across from CVS Drug Store) on Craigmont.  Go less than ½ mile - Rhododendron angles off to the right.  Go ½ mile and you will see the lake and parking areas on the left. The Senior Center is the 2 story building at the rear of the pool.

A community center located at 36 Grove Street in downtown Asheville.  Go Patton Avenue towards downtown,  turn onto Grove Street at Federal Building.  Senior Opps is located adjacent to the NC Employment Service parking lot. Operated in collaboration with Asheville City Parks and Recreation.

West Asheville Community Center (M-F)

Located at 970 Haywood Rd. Go Patton Avenue west,  turn left onto Haywood at light just past the Barbecue Inn. Go a few blocks and turn right onto Clinton, just before the Library.  Park in lower parking lot.  The Community Center is in the basement of the Library/Police/Fire station.  Operated in collaboration with Asheville City Parks and Recreation.

Weaverville (M-F)

Located in the basement of First Baptist Church in Weaverville which is at 63 N. Main street.  Pass by front of church, and turn left at next road. Park behind the church.

Shiloh Community Center (Friday Only)

Located at 121 Shiloh Road.  From I-40 and Exit 50, go south on Hendersonville Road. Turn left on Shiloh Road next to Nevada Bob's. Community Center is on your right.
