AARP Driver Safety Training
DRIVER SAFETY TRAINING AT Council On Aging MAY 8 and MAY 9
The Council on Aging of Buncombe County is sponsoring an AARP Driver Safety Program class at St. Giles Chapel at Deerfield Retirement Community on Thursday, May 8 and Friday, May 9. The class will consist of two four-hour sessions, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm each day. To register, please call the COA at 277-8288 by Thursday, May 1 and register by speaking to Ruth Eaton.
The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation's first and largest classroom driver refresher course specially designed for motorists age 50 and older. The course, which is open to the public, helps drivers refine existing skills and develop safe, defensive driving techniques. The class costs $10 per person, and there are no tests. AARP is offering a "Bring a Friend" promotion during May. Any AARP members can bring a friend, relative or neighbor to the class for free, so the cost for both is $10!
Both attendees will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the two four-hour sessions. To receive this special offer, the AARP member must show their membership card upon arrival the first day of the course--in addition to having paid in advance the $10 for their combined registration. (The guest does not have to be an AARP member.)
Upon completing the course, graduates of the AARP Driver Safety Program may be eligible to receive a discount on their vehicle insurance premiums.
