MISSION STATEMENT
Dedicated to assisting and linking senior adults and their families with information, opportunities, and services that promote and enhance quality of life.
FUNDING
County Aging Supplement - Senior Dining & Information & Case Assistance/Outreach services.
Community Action Opportunities - supports case assistance for weatherization services.
Community Health Enhancement Program - supports coordination of Project Continuum CARE (Coordination Care to At-Risk Elderly)
Family Caregiver Program (Land of Sky Area Agency on Aging) - supports case assistance for caregivers of the elderly; respite funds for caregivers.
Home & Community Care Block Grant (HCCBG) - federal and state funds support Information and Case Assistance, Senior Dining, In-Home Aide programs.
Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust - support for Project Continuum CARE - MSW and Professional and Peer Counseling.
Chaddick Family Foundation - support for Seniors Safe At Home services.
United Way - support for Resource Coordination and Seniors Safe At Home.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation- support for Project EMMA (EAT better, MOVE MORE, AGE well) - exercise and local food initiatives in Senior Dining Program.
Program Donations - participant and general donations help support COA programs.
National Church Residences - supports Services Coordination at Battery Park and Vanderbilt Apartments.
Fund Raising and Community Support - As with most non profit organizations, the Council on Aging relies on community donations and holds an annual campaign to help with that effort. Special activities and fund raising events are planned during the year also help to support the Seniors Safe at Home Program and general operating costs.
